Revêtements céramiques TBC (Thermal Barrier Coating) permette de limiter l'échauffement des élémenst métalliques du moteur permettant de s'assurer que les pièces métalliques ne travaillent pas en dehors de leur domaine de stabilité mécanique. L'optimisation de la nature des revêtements à l’évolution du design des moteurs pour fonctionner avec les SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) ou avec l’Hydrogène.

Turbine component which are exposed to elevated temperature are usually made of temperature-resistant nickel or cobalt based superalloy materials. Thermal barrier coating are deposited on metal superalloy materials to provide reduced thermal conductivity, which with cooling of the underlying component, reduce the thermal impact of the engine environment on the component material which would otherwise lead to premature failure.
