Technical Readiness Level:
Cameras are currently installed on aircraft both for pilot support to improve the ability to visualize as well as for passenger where they are presented in certain flight configurations what the pilot sees. These cameras are expensive both in terms of purchase price and aircraft installation. It can be envisaged to integrate in the windshield this camera functionality.
Saint-Gobain and Photonis have started a collaboration regarding the integration of Photonis digital imaging camera technology covering a broad range of wavelength in an aircraft windshield. The integration of multiwavelength camera could be of great help , especially during the critical phase of Landing and Take off, to circomvent to multiple situations where the vision through the windshield could be degraded such as Night, Fog or Icy conditions, or in case of windshield breakage or bird impact.
Key features:
- Enhancing the visibility in wavelength
- Enhancing the visibility in intensity
- Enhancing the visibility in geometry
- Improve maintenance cost
