Omniseal® A90

As engine temperature goes up to improve thermal cycle and overall efficiency, the systems (lubrication, bleed air, cooling systems...) running through the engine need to resist higher and higher temperature. Current polymer sealing solutions are pushed to their limit and when temperature gets above 320°C, options are limited but to switch to metal seals. Those solutions are able to sustain much higher temperature, but they come with heavier and larger bolting systems, specific tooling and surface preparation requiring more installation time on first mount or during maintenance; moreover, all the hardware need to be redesigned to accomodate this new sealing system compared to legacy systems.

Omniseal Solutions introduced a new polymer material solution specifically for critical applications in jet engine lubrication systems called Fluoroloy A90. Fluoroloy A90 is a new fluoropolymer blend, able to sustain up to 365°C on a regular basis and that can handle peaks at 400°C. The A90 material is devoted to spring energized seals. Mixed with specifically developed designs, one remove the need to redesign the system and keep lower overall weight. Installation and maintenance is kept simple without damaging or requiring hardware treatment.
