NORTON PARADIGM GRINDING WHEELS

NORTON PARADIGM GRINDING WHEELS

Technical Readiness Level:

TRL 9

Turbine blades and Nozzle Guide Vanes (NVGs) are two of the main components to be ground and finished after casting. After the semi-finishing process, parts are ground to reach the required mechanical and geometric tolerances.

New, lightweight materials such as TiAl alloys and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) are being used more frequently to reduce aircraft weight and improve engine efficiency.

Norton Paradigm from Saint-Gobain Abrasives offers a superior solution for grinding new aerospace materials, titanium alloys, advanced ceramics and composites.

NORTON PARADIGM GRINDING WHEELS

Key features:

  • Diamond abrasive reduces metal adhesion when grinding TiAl resulting in lower grinding power .
  • Higher stock removal rates, increased productivity and lower cost per part compared to SiC products or electroplated wheels.
  • Exclusive diamond to bond adhesion process.
  • High thermal conductivity for burn free grinding.
  • Can be trued and dressed on-machine in plunge or traverse modes.
