Technical Readiness Level :
Turbine blades and Nozzle Guide Vanes (NVGs) are two of the main components to be ground and finished after casting. These ‘hot’ components are usually made of high performance nickel super alloys that are hard to grind.
Norton Altos X grinding wheels from Saint-Gobain Abrasives offering maximum control in Inconel grinding operations. The combination of Norton Quantum chemistry and Altos grain provide extremely high material removal rates even at low power, boosting grinding performance to a new, higher level and opening the door to low pressure operations. Norton Altos X has been proven to improve cycle time, reducing part, labour and energy costs.
Key features :
- Lower power and grinding force for a better surface finish.
- High feed rate with controlled power provides better dimensional grinding accuracy.
- Optimized coolant distribution reduces heat build up eliminating re-work.
- Longer wheel life reduces down time, maximising productivity and reducing process cost.
- High MRR at low grinding pressure, meaning less power needed to achieve the same output.
- Reduced cycle time, grind more parts per wheel for better cost per part.
