Technical Readiness Level:
Cascade are typically used during thrust reversing phases to direct the flow of air going out of the engine in landing phases. Those are complex 3D parts acting like static vanes guiding the flow of Air towards the front of the engine to decrease the speed of the aircraft. Those parts are currently Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites mostly made through Autoclave process.
Omniseal solutions propose to introduce its HycompTM composite materials made from high temperature thermoset polymers and long carbon or glass fibers in combination with a hot compression molding process with machining finish as a cost competitive alternative to the current Cascade components .
key features:
- Low weight material with high load resistance
- Efficient forming process allows to reduced forming costs and tighter defined designs
- High chemical and mechanical resistance
- Material helps reduce required thickness for lower weight
