3D knitted composite for airduct

Technical Readiness Level:

TRL 7

SJDI has developped a 3D knitting process for composite manufacturing with multiple benefice. The 3D knitting process is well suited to achieve complexe composite shapes without stiching. The 3D knitting process of SJDI allows for the manufacturing of TP matrix composite (Glass fiber/PolyCarbonate (PC) or Carbonfiber/PC with many benefit in terms of sustainability . SJDI provide the First reach compatible air conditionning aircraft ducts qualified (Dassault 10x) as alternative to Phenolic glass.

Replacement of non-structural thick thermoformed parts by 3D knitted composites for mass savings: 3D knitting technology manage thin uniform residual thickness while thermoforming process need to start from thick plates to ensure that a minimum thickness will be achive in critical area.
